Meet Our Yoga Instructors...

Michelle Davenport

Michelle is a yoga instructor with a passion for encouraging people to find their inner strength and beauty.  She has been a student of yoga for over 6 years. In 2014 she realized she wanted to help others pursue their yoga journey and became a certified instructor. She is a wife and mother of three who enjoys being in God’s creation through outdoor activities and traveling.

Elizabeth Kim

Growing up, Elizabeth has always been a dancer. Although yoga was intriguing, it was something she never fully committed to. It wasn’t until going through periods of struggle, isolation, and lack of confidence that she discovered what yoga could do for her not only physically but mentally as well. She decided to channel her new found energy by taking a giant leap into the 200-hr RYT Birmingham Yoga Teacher Training program under the guidance of Akasha Ellis and Heather Sullivan. She humbly comes to the mat as a student and teacher to encourage others in the community around her to use yoga’s physical and mindfulness practice to overcome personal struggles such as self-doubt, isolation, and a lack of self-love. Elizabeth enjoys practicing the styles of Ashtanga, Kundalini, Vinyasa, Yin, and Restorative yoga. Regardless of age, gender, or background, she finds joy in being able to help others conquer their fears and struggles as she herself does through the steady practice of yoga. She is a multi-medium artist and also teaches private piano lessons and dance for children at the Dance Foundation. Elizabeth currently resides in Birmingham, Alabama with her loving husband and two amazing dogs.

Laura DeCastra

Laura believes yoga has enriched her life in growing stronger in her relationships, becoming a better school teacher, and not being afraid of showing the best version of herself.  She feels that all ages deserve these benefits from early on because she wants everyone to feel comfortable to share their talents and true selves with the world.  Laura is a natural born teacher from Birmingham, Al.  She graduated from the University of North Alabama in 2013 with a degree in Elementary Education with Pre-School Certification.  Her career began even before college including work as a nanny, tutor, babysitter, nursery and summer programs for 7 years at several schools in Florence, Al and Birmingham, Al.  In November 2018,  Laura went one step further and completed her Kids Yoga Certification and RYT 200 Hour Yoga Certification.  Laura sees the transformation yoga can have for all ages and abilities.  She has seen how yoga can help anyone find their voice and not be afraid of it.  Laura wants to share this knowledge with adults, teens, children, and schools all over the world, so that we can grow each day knowing how to handle our emotions, speaking our voice in a confident manner, and knowing exactly who we want to be.
